Munchiez is a food delivery platform born from adversity and built for transformation. What started as one student's path to redemption has evolved into a vision for reshaping how students earn and interact within their campus economy.
The platform emerged during our founder's darkest period—after failing first year, losing his bursary, and facing three months of homelessness in 2024. With just R200 invested in a Udemy coding course, he taught himself to code in two weeks and began building Munchiez. While sleeping on friends' floors and going without meals, he kept coding—not just to create an app, but to create a way forward.
Our first launch in August 2024 failed. Instead of accepting defeat, our founder went home, rebuilt everything, and relaunched in August 2025. That persistence led to placing 4th out of 610 entries at the Nedbank YouthX competition and securing a spot in the MTN Youth Hustle Hub top 30.
But Munchiez is about more than accolades or our founder's personal comeback story. We're building a platform designed to create real income opportunities for students who face the same impossible choice he did—between earning money and staying in school. Traditional part-time jobs are disappearing from campuses, and students deserve better solutions.
Munchiez represents proof that your lowest moment can become your launching pad, and that the best innovations come from those who've lived the problems they're solving. We're not just delivering food—we're delivering hope, opportunity, and a blueprint for student economic empowerment.
